Finsbury Park 5K and OXFORD

I DID MY FIRST EVER RACE AND BOY WAS IT EXHAUSTING

but I came 20th (out of about 60 I thiiiink) and finished in
26:51
I was way chuffed, especially as I had set myself the target of running it in under 28 minutes AND the course had a devilish hill on the last kilometre which I practically crawled up. My brother came 7th SOMEHOW (this boy does no running ever) in 22 minutes. Boy was I a little bit jealous of that and I swear I will beat him one day.

(Unfortunately I am unable to put my picture from the race in because I don't understand computers but safe to say I look SUPER ATTRACTIVE when I run ;) come at me boys)

I've spent the first three days of this week on a History conference in Oxford which of course led to a RUNNING exploration of the city

Outside the college with my runspiration!
Emma is basically the fastest human alive I think it has been scientifically proven and so I was more than a bit nervous about running with her. Our first run was fine and fabulous but our one this morning oh my I thought I was about to cough my lungs out! But it did mean I ran faster than I think ever so swings and roundabouts.

We went ice skating and I was AMAZING sort of
A week and a half to my next 5k SQUEE

Less than a week to go!

So there's about less than 6 days until my first ever RACE and EEP I am super excited for it
Running seems to be going really good at the moment, probably helped by the fact I'm feeling a lot less lethargic and depressed.

Yesterday I ran the furthest I've ever ran (4.5 miles) and today I ran the quickest 3 miles I've ever done, DESPITE THE FACT my legs felt absolutely awful and dead because of yesterday's run. Which definitely bodes well for Sunday hopefully.

I've set my self the target of running in under 28 minutes on Sunday which definitely feels do-able atm. I'd love to do it even quicker but I'm setting myself a realistic one so as not to be disenchanted. I musn't forget that a month ago I couldn't even run for 4 minutes LET ALONE 5k.

Also in a bout of race excitement I entered myself for the Lewisham Fun Run which is two Sunday's after the Finsbury Park 5k. Entry was £3 for Juniors and I couldn't resist another race

becoming queen of yoga and other things

I must remember this fact. Some people I know run 100 miles/week and I run like 10 and  feel stressed I can’t fit it in?! Need to sort my priorities.
I can’t decide whether to go to yoga tonight or not. I’ve never been before but I’ve heard its good, will it be really bad if I have NO flexibility. Yoga advice tumblr pls?
Important things to remember
This is what I told myself as I pulled myself out of bed at 7:30 to go the gym before heading to my Economics course to become Queen of Economics. Somehow it didn't seem quite as inspirational and motivational as I sweated over a cross trainer but it is an important message. I am a very good person at being lazy and coming up with excuses so sometimes you need a really big page of writing on your bedroom wall to make sure you actually go running.

Saying that, this week has been good running wise. My first serious 5k race is TWO WEEKS TODAY and well I'm sorted for it because I beat my goal time yesterday. Hashtag I'm so awesome. Ok that's silly because it may have been a one off and my goal time was only 30 minutes anyway AND I'm not this egotistical in real life I swear but to be honest the fact that I ran 5k in UNDER 30 minutes is still pretty much blowing my mind. I might try and actually go for 26 minutes now I am that excited by my small but also really big success.

The other thing I tried this week was YOGA. I am the world's least flexible person and while it was good fun it was also super embarrassing because
  1. It was like a strength workout NO ONE TOLD ME THIS I don't have any strength
  2. I have no balance and kept falling over during serene moments
  3. I have no flexibility and everyone else was like a dancing bird and doing scary things with their legs whilst I could barely touch my toes
However, I hate being bad at things so I will be back next Wednesday to prove (embarrass) myself again

Lowlight of the week was watching Chelsea lose the Super Cup 4-1. Sigh.
HAVE A NICE NEXT WEEK AND I THOUGHT OF SO MANY COOL THINGS TO BLOG ABOUT AND THEN FORGOT I WILL REMEMBER THEM NEXT WEEK I PROMISE
